2008 FROM THE TENT/2 (Race Updates)

It's definitely summertime in Charleston! Temperatures in the low 90's and humidity starting to creep up. And for the eighteenth year the CHARLESTON SPRINT TRIATHLON SERIES helps define the best of what summertime offers in the Lowcountry. The four weekends of triathlons this season include the July 6th race which will cap off a great July 4th weekend. We expect a big demand for this race so enter as soon as you can commit.

CSTS # 2- JULY 6TH- We are anticipating that we will be able to offer registration at the Park from 5 to 7 PM on Saturday as well as Sunday morning beginning at 6 AM. (This may not be true for the upcoming dates). The race will be at capacity this weekend with a very large field so come out early on race morning.  We will have drafting marshalls in place for this weekend's triathlon.  Please know the drafting regulations; we will have them available at packet pick-up.
FROM THE TENT is the location for registration availability, weather updates, and other important information during the season. Please check here before each race for any updates.

All CSTS races are currently open for registration. Online Registration at Active.com for each race will be available until midnight the Friday before each race. We will offer registration on the Saturday before each triathlon from 5 to 7 PM at James Island County Park if available. Remember, CSTS is limited to 325 participants for each race.

PACKET PICK-UP: Packet pick-up will be Saturday before each race from 5-7 PM at the Park. Packet pick-up will resume at 6 AM on Raceday. Picking up on Saturday is a great thing for participants and the race. It really helps the race out by reducing the number of pick-ups on Sunday and for the participants it helps avoid the longer lines and stress on Sunday. Arrive early (in any event) on Sunday; 6:00- 6:15. You will enjoy things more and be less rushed than those that arrive at 6:30- 6:45.

ORIENTATION: Several CSTS veterans will be offering a (free) orientation for newcomers at 6 PM on July 5th at the Park. This will be a chance to become acquainted with the swim start and finish, the general flow of the race, the Transition Area, and other tidbits of information.

ACTIVE.COM: All fees this season include the active.com fee. In terms of handling data the use of online registration has tremendously helped us with accuracy and service. Let's face it; sometimes it is just plain impossible to read people's handwriting.

SPECTATORS: Spectators have become a cherished part of CSTS. It is a joy to watch the hundreds of spectators come out early, stay late, and cheer not just their special athletes but the whole field of athletes. Please thank your fans for coming out and let them know how much they are appreciated and are welcomed as a special part of CSTS.
Everything is in place for another spectacular season. Ultimately a triathlon is a personal journey; none of us were born triathletes. Each competitor, regardless of strength or speed or personal history, has made the decision that they will stand on the edge of the lake, pull their goggles into place, and give it their all. Let's see where that journey takes us this summer.
Thanks for your support over the years and we look forward to another great summer of racing.
